The Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) Program works with homeless children and their families after they have moved out of our Emergency Shelter (ES) Program.
The PSH Program was designed and implemented in direct response to our ES Program outcome measurements. When guests continue to receive supportive services upon leaving our ES Program, they have a much higher long term success rate.
The main goal of the PSH Program is to ensure housing stability by assisting the families with “anything and everything” they need to remain permanently housed, thereby stopping the cycle of homelessness. All resources available to our ES Program families may also be used by the families in our PSH Program.
In 2009, this program had a 95% success rate and served 19 families (vs. 16 in 2008) and 2 single women, totaling 65 individuals, including 39 children.
In 2009, 2 Interfaith Council families received a housing voucher through the newly developed Tenant Based Rental Assistance Program (TBRA), a new component to the PSH Program. TBRA was created through a partnership with community agencies and local government to offer housing vouchers to families in need.
